I am currently working on an ERC funded project into language lateralisation entitled "CANDICE: Cerebral Asymmetry: New Directions in Correlates and Etiology" (http://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/205326_en.html).
In this project, we will use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and functional transcranial doppler sonography (fTCD) to investigate the profile of lateralisation across various language tasks. The aims are to test the concordance of lateralisation findings between the two methodologies and to establish a reliable battery for assessment of language lateralisation. We will then contrast the lateralisation profiles of control participants with those of adults with a history of developmental language impairments such as dylsexia, SLI and autism. This will test the hypothesis that such developmental disorders are associated with atypical patterns of lateralisation.
