Sonia MR Oliveira

Doctor Sonia Oliveira holds a Licenciatura in Biology (pre-Bologna) and a Master in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Aveiro, where she also specialized in medicinal plants, toxicology, murine models, and spermatogenesis. In 2011 she moved to Australia to work in Reproductive Biological Sciences. She later explored the nerve-cancer connection in Cancer, namely in female cancers, and completed her Ph.D. in Human Physiology ( with a significant component in Medical Biochemistry and Neurophysiology) from the University of Newcastle (Australia) in 2018. She then worked with biomimetic systems and nanotechnology in diabetes and stem cells. She explored multiple methods for primary and secondary cell culture, always with a keen interest in histopathology, cell biology, and rare disorders. Participated in >40 event(s). (Co-)Supervised MSc dissertation(s) and final projects for course completion of LSc/BSc. And works mostly in the area(s) of Natural sciences with emphasis on Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Medical and Health Sciences with emphasis on Neurosciences, Cancer, Reproduction, Toxicology, Biotechnology, and Stem cells. Hilal Ozdag

Dr. Özdağ took her BSc in Biology from Hacettepe University Department of Biology on 1993. She then get her MSc degree in Biotechnology from the same department on 1995. Dr. Özdağ got her PhD on 2000 from Bilkent University Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. Her PhD dissertation was on Hereditary Breast Cancer Genetics in Turkish Population. Dr. Özdağ then moved to UK for her postdoctoral studies. As a postdoctoral research associate at Prof. Caldas’s Laboratory in Cambridge University Hutchison-MRC Research Centre Dr. Özdağ worked on chromatin modifier genes in epithelial cancers.

Dr. Özdağ is leading her own research group at Ankara University Biotechnology Institute, Systems Biotechnology Advanced Research Unit (SISBIOTEK) since 2005. The team is conducting studies aiming to discover theranostic marker for colorectal cancer.

Amaresh Chandra Panda

Dr. Panda obtained his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from National Centre for Cell Science, University of Pune, India. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow for five years at the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Baltimore, USA. He also worked as an Assistant Scientist at the University of Miami, Miami, USA, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Colorado, Denver, USA. His studies have uncovered new mechanistic details of the post-transcriptional regulation by RNA-binding proteins, microRNAs, and circular RNAs in physiological processes, including insulin production, myogenesis, and cellular senescence. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Intermediate Fellowship by Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance. Currently, he is working as a Scientist-D at ILS Bhubaneswar under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. His research group at ILS is working to understand the role of poorly characterized circRNAs in muscle regeneration and insulin biosynthesis.

Anurag N Paranjape

Passionate about understanding the mechanisms governing cancer metastasis with a hope of finding new targetable pathways. Have worked on breast cancer stem cells, EMT, prostate cancer stem cells, breast cancer brain metastasis, and blood-brain barriers.

Anup Singh Pathania

Dr. Anup Pathania is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).
His research interests include non-coding RNAs in cancer, pharmacology, and immunology. He is currently investigating the underlying mechanisms in the stabilization of PD-L1 by exosomal non-coding RNAs in neuroblastoma cells within the tumor microenvironment.

Santosh K Patnaik

After completing my training as a physician, I enrolled in a Ph.D. program to become a biomedical researcher. My doctoral training, in the broad field of biochemistry, and cell and molecular biology, focused on mechanisms of glycosylation, which is altered in diseases such as cancer and neuromuscular dystrophy. My current primary research focus is on RNA editing, and on microRNAs.

Kevin Petrie

I obtained my PhD from the Institute of Cancer Research in London spent a further 10 years there as a postdoctoral fellow and Staff Scientist. I am currently a Lecturer in Molecular Biology at the University of Stirling in Scotland. My principal research interest is translational oncology, with a focus on epigenetics.

Brett E Pickett

Dr. Brett Pickett is an Assistant Professor in the Microbiology and Molecular Biology Department at Brigham Young University. He completed his B.S degree in Microbiology from BYU in 2005, his Ph.D. training in Microbiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and his postdoctoral training in Pathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He then obtained additional experience in industry, and at the J. Craig Venter Institute, where he led investigative studies in viral comparative genomics and the human transcriptional response during viral infection. His research develops data mining methods, applies machine learning techniques, and use advanced statistical workflows to better understand how human cells respond during infection.

Tarl W Prow

Dr. Tarl Prow is the Deputy Director of the Dermatology Research Centre within the School of Medicine and heads a group of 10 researchers focused on micromedical devices for dermatology and nanomedicine. He is a multidisciplinary researcher with internationally recognized expertise in the fields of micro-medical device development, nanodermatology, topical drug delivery and non-invasive imaging.

Carlo Ennio Pucillo

Carlo Pucillo is a Full Professor in Immunology at the School of Medicine of the University of Udine.

In his scientific career Prof. Carlo Pucillo has studied the "non canonical function" of MHC class II and the molecular mechanism that regulate the B cell activation and differentiation. From 2-1991 to 6-1994 Dr Pucillo has been Visiting Scientist at NCI in Bethesda, MD-USA.

He has acquired a considerable expertise in advanced molecular biology analysis as well as a good understanding of the immunobiology of the immune response, of the non canonical function of MHC class II molecules, in particular, as documented by his publications on this subjects.

He has also investigated the signal transduction pathways elicited by T-B cell interaction via CD40-CD154. CD40 is a B cell surface receptor that belongs to the pleiotropic tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily. The interaction between CD40 and its ligand promotes proliferation, cytokine production, upregulation of various surface molecules involved in antigen presentation, germinal center and memory B cell formation antibody isotype switching and affinity maturation and the B cell life span.

Most recently, his interest is in the study of regulatory role of Mast Cells in the microenvironment and subsequently in the tissutal tolerance and adaptive immune response. This body of work may provide a conceptual framework to therapeutically manipulate these responses in the settings of autoimmune disease and cancer.

Ching-Hon Pui

Chair of the Dept of Oncology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and an American Cancer Society Clinical Research Professor. Recipient of the 2009 American Association for Cancer Research Team Science Award, the 2010 Castle Connolly National Physician of the Year Award, the 2011 American Association for Cancer Research Joseph H.Burchenal Clinical Research Award, 2011 American Society of Hematology Henry M. Stratton Medal, & 2012 American Soc. of Clinical Oncology Pediatric Oncology Award
