Summary
I am Ph.D candidate at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, University of Hawaii at Manoa working in the Toonen-Bowen Lab (ToBo Lab). I am pursuing a doctorate degree in Zoology with a specialization in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology and currently a Dr. Nancy Foster Scholar. My research interests encompass many areas but is primarily focused on dispersal patterns of reef fishes. I typically integrate phylogeographic and population genetic methods into my research to address questions related connectivity. Ultimately my goal is to add to our understanding of the mechanisms that are responsible for generating biodiversity in he marine realm, as well as informing conservation and management strategies for vulnerable fish populations. I am also a trained closed-circuit rebreather diver and have participated in 3 international expeditions of mesophotic environments. To date my deepest dive is 330 feet (~100 meters) and my longest is 4.5 hours.
